SPACEWORKS ON GOVERNORS ISLAND

Client: Spaceworks

Established in 2011, Spaceworks is a nonprofit cultural community development organization dedicated to expanding the supply of long-term, affordable rehearsal and studio space for artists working in New York City. 

Originally an elementary school, Building 301 sustained significant damage from hurricane Sandy.  After over 25 years of abandonment, the building will soon be home to 43 artist studios and rehearsal spaces. 

LJI represented Spaceworks on all facets of the pre-construction project including feasibility analysis, and team formation.
